About Us
The London Chapter of the CMC strives to be a family based riding club with the main focus being on rider safety. All members of our family have a voice and are encouraged to use it with the promise of being heard. This family atmosphere is not to be overshadowed by the importance of rider safety. We have a zero tolerance for alcohol consumption during any riding event and we endeavour to have a proactive approach to safety as opposed to a reactive one.
We were founded on January 24, 2007, with principally 4 members - Brian (Honzie) Honsinger, Lou (BluesLover) Almeida, Tom (Cowboy) Milliken and Desi (Hacksaw) Desjardine. As the 2007 riding season approached, Honzie took on the 1st Officer Position and tried to set up a number of meet and greets with various degrees of success. The group used a number of different places to meet, not the least of which was the Little Beaver restaurant in Komoka.
As the chapter grew, there has been a change in the officers. Officers are volunteers and people have family lives as well so people return to the role of members so that other members have an opportunity as officers too.
The new Officer Team as of Septmber 1 2011 consists of Cliff Hick 1st Officer, Dave Dunn 2nd Officer/ Financial Officer and Brad Wills 3rd Officer and Webmaster.
Our riding season will commence on May 1st and end Sep 2nd. We have a Meet & Greet meeting each Thursday at 6:30 and alternate each week between the North location (Tim Horton's on Adelaide St N and Sunning dale Rd. and the South Location (Tim Horton's on Wellington Rd beside Costco).
When the weather is nice at our Meet &Greet we will have a ride. There will be planned weekend rides that usually will be of a longer nature for us all to enjoy. Our family membership comes from all walks of life; from the student to the retiree and with a wide range of professions in between. We feel the diversity of our chapter is one of the things that make us strong.
With almost all brands and ages of motorcycles represented, to say we have assorted tastes in bikes is an understatement. We have Hondas, Harleys, Kawasaki's, Suzuki's and Yamahas; from old to brand new, we ride them all.
The London CMC prides itself in not discriminating against any rider - regardless of which other club you belong to, regardless of what type of bike you ride, regardless of what brand of bike you ride, you are always welcome to ride with the CMC 028. The only thing we ask is that you observe the rules of the road, that you follow our riding guidelines and that you return that same level of respect to the rest of the members of the club.
